In the championship game of the Lady Devils Invitational, No. 2 seed Chaffee pulled off a thrilling 57-51 victory over top-seeded Delta, ending a 12-year drought to claim their first title since 2012. Bailey Robertson led Chaffee with 19 points, while Jordynn Brown added 16, and Carlyanne Cossou chipped in 11. Delta’s Grace Ancell led the Ladycats with 18 points, followed by Jade Berry with 12, and Raelin Nanney with 8. Chaffee’s defense and clutch fourth-quarter shooting proved decisive, securing their first win over Delta since 2019.

Elsewhere, Saxony Lutheran defeated Scott City 57-47 to pick up their first win of the season. Saxony started hot, sinking five three-pointers in the first quarter, and never looked back. Scott City’s Lilyan Landis led her team with 10 points, mostly from the free-throw line.

The Poplar Bluff Lady Mules improved to 5-2 with a 44-34 victory over Scott County Central. Ireland Gowen led the way with 14 points, while Juju Johnson added 13. Poplar Bluff used strong defense and a late run to secure the win.

Oak Ridge dominated Charleston in a 62-25 blowout, with seniors Reagan Howe and Madyson Ruehling leading the charge. Howe posted 23 points and 15 rebounds, while Ruehling added 21 points and 17 rebounds, as Oak Ridge moved to 3-2 on the season.

In other girls’ action, Perryville fell to Dexter 47-46 in a close contest, while St. Vincent defeated Fredericktown 54-35, led by Brie Rubel’s 25 points and Kate Rubel’s 11.


Boys Basketball Roundup

In the SEMO Conference Tournament semifinals, top-seeded Sikeston advanced to the championship game with a dominant 70-45 victory over Notre Dame. The Bulldogs showcased their depth and defensive intensity to earn their spot in the final. Cape Central joined them in the championship game after defeating Jackson 60-53. TySeanDre’ Edwards led Cape Central with 18 points, while Mar’K Mills added 19. Kole Deck led Jackson with a game-high 25 points, but Cape Central’s defensive execution in the fourth quarter made the difference.

Earlier in the tournament, Notre Dame edged Poplar Bluff 41-37, and Kennett pulled off a dramatic 77-74 upset over Charleston in a consolation matchup.

Outside of the tournament, Risco earned an 83-51 victory over Delta C-7, showcasing their offensive firepower. Richland rolled past Gideon with a 70-38 win, while Puxico defeated Neelyville 53-42.

Scott City continued their hot start with an 81-22 win over St. Pius X earlier this week. Kaiden Lowery led the Rams with 18 points, while Jaylen Rulo and Braeden Walton added 13 each. The Rams remain undefeated at 3-0 and look poised for success heading into the Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament.

Other notable results include Senath-Hornersville’s 95-48 win over Holcomb and Hayti’s 85-74 victory over Osceola (Arkansas). Woodland defeated Leopold 71-39, Campbell beat Neelyville 59-51, and East Prairie picked up a 56-40 win over Chaffee.
